Present in practically all of Central and Western Europe and also in Southern England and Scandinavia.  

Colour ranging from yellowish white pink to light red with undistinguishable heart and sapwood. Fine grain, even structure and straight fibre. Density 700 kg/m3 (at 12% humidity). Tangential (12-13)% and radial (6-7)% shrinkage.
