Wood found in the tropical zone of South America.

The colour of the wood varies from dark Brown to reddish-brown and the sapwood is grey-white or yellow-white.It may present fine streaks of a lighter colour. The sapwood is clearly differentiated and in roundwood it occupies a thickness of 1 to 2 cm. Heavy wood with a density of 940 kg/m3 at 15% humidity. The grain can be straight or interlocked. The fibre can be straight or interwoven with medium grain.
